Vacuum Drum Filter

Description

Vacuum drum filter is a external filter surface, continuous filtration, washing, drying, unloading, the filter cloth can be blown and washed, and the bottom feed (also top feed) filter equipment that operates continuously under vacuum conditions.

It has four different discharging modes: a) scraper, b) folding belt, c) roller, and d) pre-coated:

Scraper/Fold belt/roller rotary vacuum filter: For materials with a suspension that has a relatively low solid weight, a small particle size, and a certain viscosity in the filter cake, the solid phase sedimentation velocity is not more than 12 mm/s.

Pre-coated rotary vacuum filter: For the filtration of the suspension with low concentration, fine particles, colloid, easy to block the filter cloth, and the filtrate with extremely high filtrate clarity is required.  Applied in Food, fermentation, medicine, chemical industry, sewage treatment, oil and other industries.

The machine can be made of carbon steel, cast iron, rubber lining, plastic, and stainless steel. The filtering area ranges from 2m2 to 80 m2. 

Working Principle

The surface of the filter is divided into many identical chambers, and the horizontal rotating drum and filter cloth that continuously circulate move synchronously.

The outer surface of the drum is divided into multiple functional areas:

1. Suction and Filtration area
2. Washing and cleaning area
3. Dewatering area
4. Unloading and filter cloth regeneration area

Then the filter cloth is drawn out, and the filter cloth is discharged by the scraper. The filter cloth will be cleaned and regenerated, and then it returns to the four area recycle. For the whole machine, filtering, washing, drying, unloading, and regeneration are in different parts.

Application

The filter is suitable for filtering suspension with moderate solid concentration and specific gravity and uniform particle size. The following conditions are suitable for the filter:

1. The thickness of filter cake obtained within two minutes of filtration time is greater than 5mm suspension.
2. The specific gravity and particle size of the solid phase are moderate, resulting in the settling speed of the solid phase less than 12mm / suspension.
3. The suspension with low viscosity and no gum is not easy to block the filter cloth, which makes the filter cloth easier to resound.
4. Under a considerable vacuum in the drum, the filtration temperature is less than the suspension gasification temperature.
5. A small amount of solid particles are allowed to remain in the filtrate.
6. Requiring large treatment capacity and continuous operation.
